Jungle Disk 2.0 released

July 3rd, 2008

Jungle Disk is the slick and reliable interface available for the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). We have been using it (with clients and internally ) for over eight months. So far the combination of Jungle Disk and Amazon S3 has met and surpassed our expectations. Cost, cross-platform support, backup set management (”buckets”) and simple restore steps are all solid reasons to try Jungle Disk and Amazon S3. We have been able to remove the mixture of backup tools being supported and standardize with a single client. Each of our customers is using their own Amazon S3 account for billing and management but supporting them with a common client across all OS platforms is a welcome change.

This is the announcement from Jungle Disk:
Jungle Disk Desktop 2.0. Jungle Disk Desktop 2.0 includes major upgrades in functionality, performance, and ease of use. Here are some of the highlights:

* A new first-time setup wizard and configuration dialog
* A new easy to use backup selection interface
* The ability to connect to multiple buckets at the same time
* Support for “compatibility” buckets, which can be used with other S3 software
* Multiple independent backup jobs with their own scheduling
* Support for European S3 buckets
* Improved performance
* …and much more

Jungle Disk 2.0 is a free upgrade for all existing Jungle Disk users.
You can download it from the Jungle Disk Desktop download page:
http://www.jungledisk.com/desktop/download.aspx
Just install the new version over your previous copy of the software.

Jungle Disk Workgroup Edition
A public beta of the Jungle Disk Workgroup Edition is now available.
The Workgroup Edition makes it easy for companies to backup their desktops and have a secure network drive to share between employees. The software is built on the robust and well-tested codebase of the Desktop Edition. The pricing for the Workgroup Edition software is simple - just $2 per user per month, which includes all the Jungle Disk Plus functionality as well. Each user can install the software on multiple machines at no additional charge and free upgrades are included. All you pay for storage and transfer is the base Amazon S3 rates ($0.15 per gigabyte) making Jungle Disk Workgroup Edition one of the most affordable workgroup storage solutions available.
